  • A telephonic and online mentoring program for RNs and/or facility administration who seek personal consultation for individual or facility-level educational needs.

  • Customized continuing education courses targeted to specific needs of RNs working in skilled nursing facilities. These educational resources are a combination of currently available information that is thoroughly vetted by experts and material that is specifically developed to meet customer needs.

Dementia Nursing Knowledge Assessment

The assessment on dementia is designed to assess the following competencies:  

  • Understand the etiologies and defining characteristics of dementia and of the physiological, psychological, social and behavioral responses of persons with dementia
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment using standardized tools, including physical, psychological, social, cognitive and spiritual dimensions
  • Exhibit accountability for the nursing care of persons with dementia
  • Demonstrate respectful and effective (therapeutic) communication and interpersonal skills with persons with dementia, family members, staff and other disciplines
  • Promote the preservation and regaining of cognitive, physical and social functional abilities
  • Know the side effects, interactions and appropriate use of medications used to treat dementia and behavioral responses to dementia 
  • Incorporate understanding of the needs of family and friends 
  • Provide care that is ethical and meets the needs of persons with diverse cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds
